Where ecommerce content can appear on Google
We all know that in the collective imagination Google is commonly thought of as a search engine. But Google includes many services that are closely related to the mobile phone and desktop applications, but especially to the mobile experience.
Many of these services show users products in contexts outside the search engine, at the very moment when consumers are interested in those products.
Google calls these services 'surfaces', where content and products are shown to users.
Google lists six important surfaces services:
- Google Search
- Google Images
- Google Lens
- Google Shopping tab
- Google My Business
- Google Maps
Furthermore, Google recommends creating specific content for each of these six contexts by suggesting 'Some of these surfaces support multiple ways in which content can be displayed'.
